05.05.2023

On May 3rd on the occasion of the 232th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of 3 May 1791, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Oslo organised the concert of the Norwegian Academy of Music students titled “Polish and Norwegian Musical Inspirations” jointly with Norwegian Academy of Music, Polish Tourism Organisation in Stockholm, Małopolska Tourism Organisation and Małopolska Region.

The concert was preceded by the speeches delivered by Lina Braaten – head of the Piano, Accompaniment, Guitar and Accordion Unit, and Iwona Woicka-Żuławska – the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in the Kingdom of Norway. The Ambassador explained the backstory of the Constitution of 3 May 1791, stressing the significance of the struggle for freedom these days, considering the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine. In that regard she underlined the necessity of reckoning of the Russian crimes. That being said, the Ambassador recalled the story of Witold Pilecki and his reports on the Holocaust, originally neglected by the Allies. The lesson of the past should be learned and remembered – claimed the Ambassador.

Students of the Norwegian Academy of Music delivered the professional and moving performance of the pieces of music by Fryderyk Chopin, Karol Szymanowski, Thomas Tellefsen and Geirr Tveitt. The musicians were rewarded with thunderous applause of the considerable audience. The performance of four songs by Fryderyk Chopin (‘The Wish’, ‘My Darling’, ‘Reverie’, ‘A fickle Maid’) by Lisa Lindblom and Siri Krosness from Sweden accompanied by Polish pianist Karolina Le as well as the performance of Oskar Abel Valand Halvorsen who played Tveitt’s pieces of music turned to be particularly memorable.

The concert was followed by the festive reception aided by the Małopolska Tourism Organisation that introduced local food and wines of Małopolska region.
