National Independence Day celebration in the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Oslo

November 11, on the occasion of the National Independence Day, a ceremonial reception was held in the representative premises of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Oslo. The reception was attended by representatives of the Norwegian Polish community and representatives of the Norwegian political, economical and cultural elites cooperating with the Embassy on a daily basis.
The reception began with the singing of the anthems of Norway and Poland and a mini-concert of Polish patriotic songs performed by the Vocal Ensemble Samhold - Sang over grenser
In the speeches opening of the event, both the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland, Iwona Woicka-Żuławska, and the Consul of the Republic of Poland, Anna Śmiałek-Grzyb, recalled the origins of the holiday and its importance for subsequent generations of Poles. The Ambassador also emphasized the importance of patriotism and work for the homeland, especially today, when Poland's closest neighbor, Ukraine, is fighting for its independence against Russia.
During the reception, there was also a ceremony of decoration of Mrs. Janina Januszewska - Skreiberg with the Golden Cross of Merit for her special merits for the promotion of Polish culture in Norway and deepening Polish-Norwegian cultural ties. Consul Anna Śmiałek-Grzyb gave the laudatory speech in honor of the awardee, Piotr Chołodziński, a Norwegian theater director of Polish descent, expressed the gratitute for Janina Januszewska - Skreibeg on behalf of the creators, and Christina Skreiberg, a representative of her family, spoke on behalf of Janina.
The official part of the reception ended with an impression on the clarinet performed by Eugeniusz "Genek" Pudelewicz.
