Official celebration of Polish Independence Day in Oslo

11 of November, on the occasion of National Independence Day, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Oslo issued at Konserthus the official reception for Norwegian partners, Polish diaspora and diplomatic corpse. The reception was accompanied by the fashion show INDEPENDENT prepared by Fashion Institute of the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź.

In the speech opening of the reception, Ambassador I. Woicka-Żuławska summarizing the current state of Polish-Norwegian relations that are gaining in intensity again after the COVID-19 pandemic, referred to the crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border, emphasizing the fundamental importance of solidarity and readiness to cooperate in region to effectively face the challenges and threats of the presence. Speaking on behalf of the Norwegian side, Eivind V. Petersson, Secretary of State
in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, recalled, inter alia, the ties between Poland and Norway - members of NATO and the European Economic Area - and thanked the Polish community in Norway for its considerable contribution to the development of Norwegian prosperity.

 

The ceremony was also an occasion for the presentation by Amb. I. Woicka-Żuławska and P. Bogusz, Deputy Director at the Department of European Funds of the Ministry of Climate and Environment of the Republic of Poland of the Polish honorary badge "For Merits for Environmental Protection and Water Management" to Mr. Trygve Hallingstad.
 

Inviting to participate - in a fashion show specially prepared on the occasion of the ceremony - Dr. Michał Szulc, Director of the Fashion Institute of the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, emphasized that for the first time in history there was a joint presentation of the work of the Institute's lecturers. He also noted that the idea of ​​the show - INDEPENDENT - should be understood both in the context of the anniversary of regaining independence by Poland but also in the context of unrestricted freedom of artistic expression realized through clothing.
