Official inauguration of Polish translation to the permanent exhibition in the FRAM Museum, Oslo and lecture of M. Kamiński

December 7th, the official inauguration of the Polish translation for the Museum's permanent exhibition took place at the Museum of Polar Exhibitions FRAM in Oslo. The inauguration was combined with a lecture by Marek Kamiński, the most outstanding contemporary Polish polar explorer. The event was organized in cooperation of the Fram Museum and the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Oslo and the Marek Kamiński Foundation.
Geir Klover - Director of FRAM in his speech expressed his gratitude to the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Oslo for the translation, emphasizing that the FRAM permanent exhibition is now available in 12 languages except Norwegian.
Ambassador I. Woicka-Żuławska emphasized the growing interest of the museum also among Polish visitors, expressing hope that the availability of the permanent exhibition in Polish will result in a further increase in Polish tourists. The ambassador also recalled Polish achievements both in the field of polar expeditions and scientific research in these areas, briefly presenting the biographies of outstanding Polish polar explorers Henryk Arctowski and Antoni Dobrowolski. She mentioned the 90th anniversary of the Polish expedition to Bear Island (1932), the activity of Polish polar stations both in Norwegian Svalbvard (year-round station Hornsund and seasonal stations of the Universities in Wrocław, M. Curie - Skłodowska in Lublin, M. Copernicus in Toruń and A. Mickiewicz in Poznań) and in Antarctica (Arctowski Station, reactivation of Dobrowolski Station). The Ambassador also emphasized the importance of the polar regions in Polish foreign policy, pointing out, among others, Poland's activity as an observer in the Arctic Council, co-creation of the EU's polar policy and the adoption of the Polish polar strategy in 2020,
M. Kamiński talked about his unique polar experiences that inspired him to create the Life Plan Academy, aimed at building life resilience, especially among children and teenagers, as well as helping them discover their unique talents and build motivation for action and development. He emphasized that Life Plan Academy is expanding its activities internationally by, among others, in Kenya, Rwanda, Great Britain and also in southern Norway.
M. Kamiński's lecture met with keen interest of the participants - the polar explorer answered numerous questions from the audience regarding both his own experience in building endurance and coping with challenges, as well as his ability to take risks.
