Polish-Norwegian energy cooperation

The Polish Minister of Climate and Environment Anna Moskwa and the Minister of Petroleum and Energy of Norway Terje Aasland met in Oslo on 6 July 2022. They discussed current challenges within energy security and the potential for further bilateral energy cooperation.
Minister Anna Moskwa emphasized that Poland appreciated the current strategic partnership with Norway in terms of increasing energy security in Europe, including in the area of oil and gas supplies and extraction. Norway Grants are also a vital tool of financing the energy transformation in Poland, especially in the field of offshore wind energy, boosting the bilateral energy cooperation.
The ministers confirmed the great importance of the Baltic Pipe project for Polish – Norwegian cooperation and for energy security of Europe. Deliveries of the first volumes of Norwegian gas by the Baltic Pipe to Poland will start in October 2022, in accordance with original plans. Minister Anna Moskwa indicated that taking into account the current geopolitical tensions related to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, efforts to increase energy security in the region, diversification of supply sources and technologies in Polish energy mix are of fundamental importance to Poland and at the same time play an important role in maintaining energy stability in Central and Eastern Europe, including Ukraine.
