Andrzej Głowacki became PAA Vice-president

Minister of Climate Michał Kurtyka, upon request of Dr Łukasz Młynarkiewicz, the President of the National Atomic Energy Agency (PAA), has appointed Andrzej Głowacki, formerly the Director of the PAA Nuclear Safety and Security Department, to the position of Vice-President of the National Atomic Energy Agency.

Minister of Climate Michał Kurtyka, upon request of Dr Łukasz Młynarkiewicz, the President of the National Atomic Energy Agency (PAA), has appointed Andrzej Głowacki, formerly the Director of the PAA Nuclear Safety and Security Department, to the position of Vice-President of the National Atomic Energy Agency.

Andrzej Głowacki is an employee of the PAA since 2007. Previously, he was the Director of the Department of Nuclear Safety, responsible, inter alia, for supervision of the nuclear safety of nuclear facilities in Poland, including the MARIA research reactor. During his career in PAA, he also held positions of the Director of the Supervision and Inspection Department, and the Head of the Nuclear Facilities Inspection Unit.

The newly appointed PAA Vice-President has significant professional experience in the field of nuclear safety and radiological protection. He completed a number of national and international trainings, including on-the-job training at the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (U.S. NRC) in conducting inspections at the construction site of the Vogtle 3&4 and V.C. Summer 2&3 Nuclear Power Plants, as well as the commissioning of the Watts Bar 2 Nuclear Power Plant in the United States. He also participated as an expert in the international mission of the IAEA Integrated Nuclear Regulatory Review (IRRS) which was carried out in Canada. He is a contributor to the IAEA TECDOC No. 1867 Handbook for Regulatory Inspectors of Nuclear Power Plants.

Andrzej Głowacki is a first and second degree nuclear regulatory inspector. He is also a member of the PAA President's examination boards for the positions of nuclear regulatory inspectors. Since 2011, he has been the representative of Poland in the Working Group for Inspection Practices at the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency.

Andrzej Głowacki has a master degree in physics. He also completed postgraduate studies in Nuclear Power at the Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering of the Warsaw University of Technology.
