Laboratories and expert organizations may apply for the authorization of the President of PAA. What are the requirements in this regard, what is the process of obtaining or changing the authorization? The necessary information is available on the PAA's website.

In the process of licensing and supervision of a nuclear power plant, the President of PAA may use expert support. However, this type of support can only be provided by laboratories or expert organizations authorized by the President of PAA.

Authorization of the President of PAA

Only specific entities and institutions may apply for the authorization of the President of PAA - the Atomic Law sets out special requirements in this respect. Laboratories or expert organizations should have highly qualified personnel. It is also important to have suitable equipment - facilities must be technically prepared to perform specific tasks, as well as guarantee impartial conduct of activities related to the requested scope of authorization.

Applications for authorization of the President of PAA may only be submitted by laboratories or expert organizations that are not:

  • designers, producers, suppliers, fitters or
  • representatives of entities engaged in design, construction or operation of a nuclear power plant
  • financially or organizationally connected with entities mentioned above.

How does the authorization process proceed?

Obtaining the authorization begins with the submission of an application by the interested entity or facility to the President of PAA.

The President of PAA performs an assessment of documents submitted by the applicant. The Agency's President may also conduct an initial inspection of the applicant to verify compliance with the requirements specified in the Atomic Law. After the assessment and possible inspection, the President of PAA makes an administrative decision on granting the authorization, changing its scope or refusing to grant the authorization.
