Topical Peer Review - ENSREG
Directive 2014/87/EURATOM amending Directive 2009/71/EURATOM introduced (apart from the maintained self-assessment requirement every 10 years) the necessity of conducting, in a 6-year cycle, the topical peer review (TPR) of relevant nuclear facilities (with the participation of the representatives of other Member States and European Commission). The directive provides for that the first TPR will take place in 2017 and the subsequent ones every 6 years. The first TPR will concern the Ageing Management.
The TPR process consists of the following steps:
1. Preparation of the National Assessment Report (NAR) - which is carried out by a member country. The NAR on Ageing Management includes 4 specific areas:
- Electric cables
- Covered piping systems
- Reactor pressure vessels (or equivalent structures)
- Concrete constructions
2. Conducting a Peer Review - which includes a workshop, peer reviews and the publication of a summary report;
3. Follow-Up - identification and implementation of measures aimed at introducing appropriate findings from the national assessment and peer review.
