The workshop held on 11 March was opened by Andrzej Głowacki, PAA Deputy President, and Caroline Ducros, CNSC Director General for Advance Reactor Technologies.

The objective was to present and discuss in detail the Canadian experience with the licensing process of small modular reactors (SMR) in Canada. CNSC shared information about their experience with the so-called vendor design review (VDR). Canadian experts also presented all stages of the licensing process of SMR. PAA representatives discussed Polish legal solutions and requirements and approach to licensing nuclear facilities, also SMR.

The National Atomic Energy Agency co-operates with the CNSC on a regular basis. We intend to hold more workshops on licensing and competence development for nuclear safety and radiological protection in the context of introducing SMR.
