Meeting of the Regulatory Cooperation Forum with the PAA
05.02.2024
The President of the National Atomic Energy Agency (PAA), Andrzej Głowacki, together with the Presidents of the Regulatory Cooperation Forum (RCF), opened a meeting devoted to PAA's activities within the RCF. The two-day meeting began on 5 February at the PAA headquarters.
The meeting discussed, among other things, the coordination and support of PAA's activities under the RCF. At the outset, the PAA President presented the regulatory challenges related to the implementation of the Polish Nuclear Power Programme and the interest in small modular reactor technology in Poland. The RCF is an important format for the PAA through which the Agency can develop its regulatory competencies together with foreign partners. This is the first RCF meeting in Poland to be held on a standing basis since the pandemic.
As part of the RCF meeting, the PAA President also held bilateral meetings with representatives of the Canadian and Pakistani supervision. The meetings concerned the further development of bilateral cooperation between the janitors.
Role of the RCF
The Regulatory Cooperation Forum was established at the initiative of the International Atomic Energy Agency. The RCF comprises countries with advanced nuclear power programmes and countries that are planning to expand or introduce the use of nuclear power.
