The key topic of the meeting was a review of current Polish-American cooperation in the context of the PAA's preparations for the process of assessing the application for a licence for the first Polish nuclear power plant. The PAA and the US NRC exchanged information on the progress of the project in Poland and the course of bilateral cooperation between both institutions.

25th INLA Congress, held on November 3-7 this year, is a leading international event gathering experts from around the world dealing with nuclear law who are representatives of public administration, the nuclear regulatory authorities, lawyers, scientists and others.

Licensing of a nuclear power plant

Licensing a nuclear power plant in the field of nuclear safety and radiation protection covers the construction, commissioning, operation and decommissioning of such a power plant. Licenses are granted by the President of the PAA based on the investor's application. The license is issued after it is determined that the legally required conditions for performing activities involving exposure to ionizing radiation have been met. It should be remembered that the entity that has obtained the license is responsible for performing activities in a way that ensures nuclear safety, radiation protection, physical protection and safeguards of nuclear materials.
