PAA and the US NRC discuss regulatory oversight of quality assurance and vendor inspection during nuclear power plants construction.

5th virtual meeting between the National Atomic Energy Agency (PAA) and the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (US NRC) took place between 24th and 26th August.

The three-day-long workshop was inaugurated by the Vice President of the PAA, Mr. Andrzej Glowacki, and Executive Director fot Operation of the US NRC Ms. Margaret Doane. Both sides reiterated their commitment to the exchange of experiences and best practices in the area of oversight and supervision of nuclear safety.

The main goal of the workshop was to learn on American experiences in quality assurance in nuclear power plant construction, including licensing, oversight, and supervision. The US NRC elaborated on inspections of vendors of components used in nuclear installations, as well as licensing of the large-scale third (+) generations reactors and Small Modular Reactors.

The National Atomic Energy Agency conducts regular cooperation with the US NRC related to nuclear safety and radiological protection.
