About WENRA

The Western European Nuclear Regulators Association (WENRA) brings together heads of nuclear regulators of EU Member States and Switzerland with nuclear power plants, on a voluntary basis. Poland has the observer status.

The purpose of the Association’s activities is to harmonise the requirements and practices in siting, design, construction, operation and decommissioning of nuclear power plants. WENRA is also taking care of the requirements and practices related to storage and disposal of radioactive waste.

WENRA acts through standing or ad hoc working groups, and develops Safety Reference Levels (SRL). The National Atomic Energy Agency of Poland participates in the work of three working groups: the Reactor Harmonization Working Group (RHWG), the Working Group on Waste and Decommissioning (WGWD), and the Working Group on Research Reactors (WGRR).
