Strengthening of technical and expert support - the PAA President handed over authorisation

The President of the National Atomic Energy Agency (PAA), Andrzej Głowacki, handed over the authorisation decision to the President of the Polish branch of IDOM, Marcin Ward. The handing over of the decision took place on 2 February at the PAA headquarters.

This document confirms that the entity meets the requirements in the requested scope. IDOM Inżynieria, Architektura i Doradztwo Sp. z o.o. has received authorization for:

  • strength of structures in nuclear power plants (with particular emphasis on the nuclear reactor and pressure vessel);
  • evaluation of electrical systems used in nuclear power plant design;
  • strength of materials and installations used in thermal power plants (or industrial pressure installations).

- Although the PAA's competence is steadily increasing, it is difficult to provide expertise in the entire scope required to assess a proposal for the construction of a nuclear power plant. Hence, the authorisation I am handing over today, in areas such as structural and material strength or assessment of electrical systems, is of vital importance for the safety assessment of a nuclear power plant - said Andrzej Głowacki.

Authorisation of laboratories and research institutes

The President of the National Atomic Energy Agency in the scope of activities related to the supervision of nuclear power plants may use only authorized laboratories and expert organizations.
