Verification visit of the European Commission to Poland in the field of radiation monitoring

Verification visit of the European Commission, in accordance with Art. 35 of the Euratom Treaty took place on 28-31 October 2024.
The previous visit was held in June 2016. During the current visit, the nationwide network of environmental radiation monitoring was verified. The review included early warning stations for radioactive contamination, facilities carrying out measurements of radioactive contamination, environmental measurements carried out around nuclear facilities and radioactive waste repositories, and, in addition, the implementation status of the recommendations from the previous visit. This year, apart from the National Atomic Energy Agency, EC representatives also visited the National Center for Nuclear Research, the Radioactive Waste Management Plant, the Central Laboratory of Radiation Protection, the National Veterinary Research Institute - State Research Institute and the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management - National Research Institute. The conclusions from the European Commission's verification visit will be included in the Technical Report, which Poland will receive through the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Poland to the European Commission.
