Training for capacity building and institutional strengthening of Georgia's Border Police

The Border Guard Training Centre in Kętrzyn was used to train nearly 100 Georgian Border Police officers on preventing and eradicating trans-border crime related to illegal trafficking in explosives, procedures and methods of inspecting various means of transport used in border checking activities, and patrol intervention and collaboration techniques. At the same time, equipment meant to stage further independent training was purchased and donated to the Georgian partner. In the long term, the acquired skills will allow Georgia to establish its own qualification improvement system based on local training courses in individual border guard outposts, while trained cadre of officers will increase the effectiveness of Georgian Border Police
