"Volunteers on duty" - stationary and mobile first medical aid for residents of the Kukirango community in Tanzania

Polish Aid Volunteering Programme

Implementing entity: FOUNDATION KIABAKARI Amount od co-finansing: PLN 146,500

In this project two volunteers - a doctor and a paramedic - worked for three months at a health centre in the Kiabakari village, helping the most urgent patients, conducting medical consultations, and doing screening tests. As part of their duties, they staged first aid training classes for pupils and teachers from eight primary schools in the commune, and also trained the medical staff from the Kiabakari health centre on the operation and diagnostical use of medical equipment purchased in the project. The volunteers also helped to set up and organise the work of a mobile clinic that toured outlying villages on selected weekdays. At the outset of the project, the volunteers organised a First Aid Fair during which previously trained children and health centre workers were able to test their resuscitation, reanimation and pre-medical first aid skills. While staying in Tanzania, the volunteers maintained a blog on https://kiabakari. org/blog-wolontariusze-na-sygnale/
