Ph.D. Adam Bodnar
Born on January 6, 1977 in Trzebiatów.
In 2000, he graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw, and in 2001, he completed LLM studies in comparative constitutional law at the Central European University in Budapest.
In 2006, he obtained a doctorate in law, and in 2019, a habilitated doctor. In the years 2006–2020 he lectured at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw, and from 2019 to 2020 he was a professor at the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology.
Since 2021, he has been the dean of the Faculty of Law at SWPS University.
He is a visiting professor at the University of Cologne and a senior fellow at the Democracy Institute of the Central European University in Budapest.
In the second half of the 1990s, he cooperated with the "Never Again" Association.
From 1999 to 2004 he worked at the law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges. He was a member of the board of experts of the European Institute for Gender Equality and the board of directors of the UN Fund for Victims of Torture, as well as an expert of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights.
He cooperated with numerous non-governmental organizations, including: "Panoptykon" Foundation (chairman of the program board), Association of prof. Zbigniew Hołda (co-founder and board member).
From 2004 to 2015, he was an associate of the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights, coordinator of the precedent cases program, secretary and vice-president of the management board.
In the years 2015–2021 he was the Ombudsman.
He is a member of program and advisory boards of national and international organizations, including: Foundation "Congress of Civic Democratic Movements", World Organization Against Torture, International IDEA, World Justice Project, Civil Liberties Union for Europe. He also founded the "Congress of Civil Rights" Foundation.
Author of numerous scientific publications in the field of law. Winner of national and international awards for his contributions to the protection of the rule of law and human rights.
He was awarded, among others: The Rafto Award, the Badge of Honor of Gryf West Pomeranian, the Medal "For Merits to the People's Movement" named after Wincenty Witos.
He is a Knight of the Legion of Honor.
Senator of the 11th term elected in 2023 in the 44th district covering Warsaw - the districts of Białołęka, Bielany, Śródmieście, Żoliborz and the votes of Polish women and men abroad.
