Coal committee: around 700,000 tonnes of coal delivered already to municipalities
28.12.2022
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki's briefing with ministers, province governors and company presidents on coal redistribution has ended. We are continuously monitoring the status of deliveries to individual local governments and streamlining logistics processes. The security of Polish families is a key issue for us.
Nearly 700,000 tonnes of coal have already been delivered to municipalities and their residents
The government has created an effective mechanism for distributing coal to citizens. Municipalities that participate in the distribution of coal can purchase this commodity at PLN 1,500 per tonne and resell it for a maximum of PLN 2,000. The amount of PLN 500 is earmarked for logistics, i.e. transport.
In 2,339 municipalities, the first delivery was made. This is more than 97% of the municipalities that signed up for the programme. Nearly 700,000 tonnes of coal have already been delivered to the municipalities.
We are also expanding the distribution network and opening new points to increase the capacity.
The government keeps the coal market situation under review
The Coal Committee is held regularly at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister. During its meetings, which are chaired by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, ministers, province governors and company presidents discuss the redistribution of coal.
The situation is monitored on an ongoing basis, taking into account the import and mining plans versus the demand for the commodity. Measures are taken to ensure the supply of heating coal to all entities, including individual customers.
