Ignacy Niemczycki

Ignacy Niemczycki, at the request of the Minister for European Affairs Adam Szłapka, was appointed by Prime Minister Donald Tusk to the position of Secretary of State in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.

Ignacy Niemczycki graduated in sociology from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and political science from the School of Social Sciences (diploma from Lancaster University). He holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Bocconi University in Milan. He also completed postgraduate studies in agriculture at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences and organic farming at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn. He was a scholarship holder of the U.S. Department of State's IVLP program and the Landecker Democracy Fellowship.

During his studies, he founded the Free Belarus Initiative (Inicjatywa Wolna Białoruś) to support the fight for democracy in this country. He was a member of the Management Board of the Action Democracy Foundation (Fundacja Akcja Demokracja) and managed the Prof. Bronisław Geremek Center Foundation (Fundacja Centrum im. Prof. Bronisława Geremka). He founded and coordinated a coalition of social organizations called the European Front (Front Europejski).

In the years 2008-2012, he was an employee of government administration – m.in. the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, the Office of the Republic of Poland, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Representation to the EU in Brussels, where he participated in the negotiations of EU funds for Poland. In 2013-2015, Ignacy Niemczycki was the head of the European Affairs Department at Polityka Insight. From 2015 to 2017, he was a public affairs manager and acting director of international communications for a corporation. He runs an organic farm in Masuria.

January – October 2024 Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology.

In the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, he supervises the Economic Department of the European Union and the Department of European Union Law.
