Investing in new childcare facilities — supporting Polish families
11.10.2023
Over the last eight years, Poland has gained many new nurseries and kindergartens. The Toddler+ programme has effectively tripled the number of spots available for children. This gives parents a choice, allowing them to return to work if they wish. We also support Polish families through other pro-family programmes, including the Family Care Capital, 500+ (800+ since January), Good Start and Mother+. During his visit to a kindergarten with a nursery section in Wysocko Małe, which opened last year, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki spoke about the enormous support the government is providing to many Polish homes. The village is located in a municipality that previously had no such facility.
New childcare facilities for the youngest
We establish state-of-the-art childcare facilities for children up to the age of 3. Thanks to our policy, parents can return to work while their children stay in a safe space with professional care.
In the last six years, we have tripled the number of childcare spots. This is possible thanks to the Toddler+ programme.
“Let me give you an exact figure: having started at 87,000, we have now reached nearly 250,000, and another 100,000 are coming. A gigantic difference indeed", said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
As much as PLN 5.5 billion will be allocated to the programme’s new perspective for 2022–2029. In April, we learnt the results of the first call for proposals under the 2022–2029 Toddler+ Programme. Additional childcare facilities will be created in 1,262 municipalities across Poland. This means nearly 88,000 new spots for the youngest.
Modern facilities for children
Thousands of childcare spots are being created thanks to our government programmes. The facilities that are opening are modern and offer the highest safety standards. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki visited a kindergarten with a nursery branch in Wysocko Małe. Previously, the Przygodzice Municipality had no childcare facilities where parents could leave their children while they worked. Now, this is possible thanks to government funding.
“The facility I have seen here is something we would not be ashamed of even in mid-21st century — a beautiful, wonderful facility for children, for the youngest children — a nursery, kindergarten, school. It is something wonderful”, the Prime Minister stressed.
