Polish industry the strength of our economy

04.08.2023

In Kwidzyn, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki stressed that the government must serve Polish entrepreneurs. Lower taxes, good infrastructure and numerous government programmes are some of the elements that influence the dynamic development of Polish businesses. Investment in the regions also means new jobs and the economic development of our local governments. We can see that our domestic companies are more often present in the implementation of local investments.

Polish companies can build local roads

The strong position of Polish companies is a great opportunity for the further development of our economy. The head of the Polish government stressed that he would try to ensure that more and more Polish companies participate in the development of local investments. Thanks to the introduction of various government programmes for local authorities, Polish entrepreneurs have more opportunities to process national orders, including the construction of new roads.

- Presently, the number of road investments, municipal and district roads, voivodeship roads and all other types of roads that are needed locally, for residents – access to shops, schools, hospitals, friends - is 6 to 10 times greater - emphasised Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

Local companies are building roads, bicycle paths or pedestrian crossings. From 2015 onwards, according to forecasts, more than 28,000 km of local roads will be built. Nearly PLN 20 billion has been allocated for that purpose.

Government subsidies for local authorities means new orders for entrepreneurs

The funds transferred to local authorities for new investments increase the quality of life of the residents. The implementation of investments in the regions also means new jobs, as well as economic development of our local authorities and local companies.

- Above all, Polish entrepreneurs are the apple of my eye. They create new jobs, people can earn more, new employees are attracted - said the head of the Polish government.

Key government programmes involving local entrepreneurs:

  • Government Local Investment Fund
  • Government Strategic Investment Programme
  • Government Road Construction Fund

- I will do my best to ensure that the money from the next edition of Polish Strategic Investments, tens of millions of zlotys, goes to Polish companies in the poviats – announced Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

Assistance to Polish entrepreneurs

We help small and medium-sized Polish companies. Local entrepreneurs are of great value to the Polish economy. We have introduced the Small Social Insurance Fund (mały ZUS) for the smallest companies, and in the time of crisis we have protected Polish entrepreneurs introducing a number of shields: anti-crisis, anti-inflation and solidarity shields. Additionally, we have frozen electricity and gas prices and offered support to maintain jobs.

- Hundreds of thousands of Polish entrepreneurs benefited from the Anti-Crisis Shield. There was a great crisis. We saved Polish small and medium-size, the smallest and larger entrepreneurs - reminded the Prime Minister.

Moreover, we support entrepreneurs through the following actions:

  • Reduction of Corporate Income Tax for small taxpayers - to 9% from 19%, which was still in force in 2017. CIT has de facto become a tax on large international corporations,
  • Increasing the limit for the application of the 9% CIT rate - from EUR 1.2 to EUR 2 million revenue,
  • Possibility of benefiting from Estonian CIT and a number of reliefs, e.g. IP Box, R&D tax relief or innovative employee relief.

- We have changed the law, introduced subsidies and payments to Polish companies and powerful investment funds for local governments, which have never been available in the history of Poland – stressed Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
