04.07.2024
Prime Minister Donald Tusk met Slovakian President Peter Pellegrini at the Prime Minister's Office. Their conversation focused on bilateral relations and security concerns in Europe, with a particular focus on the ongoing support for Ukraine. The leaders also discussed the current political landscape in the aftermath of the European elections.
The meeting, which took place three days after Poland assumed the leadership of the Visegrad Group (V4), was also an opportunity to exchange views on key regional issues and the future of cooperation between the four states.
On 1 July, Poland took over the annual presidency of the V4 for the seventh time, with the guiding strategy of: “V4: Back to the Roots.” The new strategy refers to the cornerstones of the V4 - freedom, human rights, the rule of law, as well as commitment to European integration and partnerships for security in Europe.
Peter Pellegrini has been the President of the Slovak Republic since 15 June 2024. The visit to Warsaw is the third foreign visit of the Slovakian head of state, after Prague and Brussels.
