Prime Minister: A beautiful bridge is being constructed on National Road No. 75 – in Kurów, near Nowy Sącz

29.07.2021

The construction of Kurów’s new bridge over the Dunajec River is proceeding according to plan. Located at a section of National Road No. 75 between Nowy Sącz and Brzesko, this investment project is vital not only due to communication improvements but also because of its tourist and economic impact. The bridge construction project is entirely funded from the state budget, with its cost exceeding PLN 189 million. Additionally, the investment project includes altering the course of the National Road No. 75 itself.

Bridging the gap to reach new perspectives

During his visit to the Kurów construction site, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki emphasized that the bridge constitutes a major communication, economic and tourist facility. “It is through such amazing structures that we bring better opportunities to entrepreneurs and the entire region”, PM Morawiecki remarked. The new investment project will serve the residents and tourists, as well as significantly affecting the region’s development.

The construction of the S75 expressway will contribute to this as well.

S75 expressway urgently needed by the Nowy Sącz region

Referred to as “sądeczanka”, the new expressway was entered into the National Road Construction Programme in 2017, with nearly PLN 1.8 billion allocated for its construction. In mid-2020, the government adopted a resolution increasing expenditure under the programme, increasing the funding available for the S75 construction process to more than PLN 3 billion.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki called on the local government representatives to make the expressway’s construction possible: “We are waiting for local government officials to come to an agreement. We are ready to start building this road immediately. We have secured funding, as well as processing and production capacity. This road will improve the development opportunities of this magnificent area of Poland”.

Infrastructure projects – a strategic part of the Polish Deal

The Polish Deal will reduce social inequalities and create better living conditions for all citizens throughout Poland. The government strives to ensure sustainable development for all Polish regions.

“A new road, bridge or viaduct brings new opportunities and opens a new chapter in the history of regions that had previously found it impossible to attract investments – including foreign ones. Investments create new jobs and increase Poles’ salaries. This is the key aspect of the Polish Deal, and our development trends include vital infrastructure projects – such as this beautiful bridge in Kurów”, said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

The new bridge will replace an old one, the construction of which had begun before World War II. The new bridge is scheduled to open for traffic in October 2021. The remaining works are set to be finalised by April 2022.
