Prime Minister at the “Poland, the Great Project” Congress: the war we are facing will redefine Europe

10.06.2022

The head of the Polish government stressed that if Ukraine, and with it Europe, loses the war, the situation of our continent will never be the same. This is why action on the international stage, where Poland seeks to support its eastern neighbour, is so important. The role of the Poles is to raise awareness in Europe. Poland is calling for severe sanctions to be imposed on Russia. All countries should also organise arms supplies to help Ukraine survive now and to support it on its way to victory in the future.

An excellent opportunity to reflect on current events is the 12th “Poland, the Great Project” Congress. This is another edition of the event dedicated to our homeland. The three days of deliberation are filled with debates. The discussions concern the strategic development challenges that our country will face in the coming debates.

Poland – the great project

The Prime Minister stressed that issues related to Poland's development were discussed many times during the Congress. As the head of the Polish government pointed out: “For Poland to be this great project, it must be a part of the great European project. After all, all of us today, the modern world, were born out of the idea of Europe. The Christian Europe, Roman Europe, Greek Europe.”

One of the key topics discussed was the international situation, including the war in Ukraine. Poland plays an important role in supporting its eastern neighbour. The Prime Minister highlighted the need for further action, such as imposing sanctions and direct support for Ukraine. As he pointed out: “Ukraine can and will win because it shows tremendous determination and tremendous courage.”

Europe – our responsibility

At the same time, Poland has a special responsibility today. It involves redefining Europe after the war.

“It is our responsibility to ensure that the spirit of history lives on in Europe and continues to shape the world,” the Prime Minister stressed. He recalled the words of Jerzy Narbutt: “Remember – you are alive as long as you are not afraid, because when you are afraid it is as if you were lying in the grave.”

The head of the Polish government concluded his speech with an appeal for Europe not to be afraid. He wished it to have the courage to think and act.
