23.12.2023

Prime Minister Donald Tusk extended Christmas wishes to all Poles. The Head of Government stressed that this upcoming period is the best time to feel a sense of community again

KPRM

Dear All,

The hectic months of political breakthrough are over. We have experienced perhaps the most exciting election campaign in Poland's recent history. I have spoken to many of you directly at hundreds of meetings across Poland. For you – the participants of the marches and meetings with me – the change that has taken place in the elections is a joy and a fulfilment of your hopes. I believe you are preparing for Christmas Eve in good spirits.

Today I also want to address those who did not want this change and in whom it provokes anxiety. I respect your views and your concerns. I will keep convincing you to see my side, but above all I will listen carefully to what you say. My primary concern is that each and every one of you, whether you are supporters or staunch opponents of the government, should feel safe and at home in Poland. Let truth, trust and mutual kindness be present again in public life and in your personal lives.

Ahead are moving and important moments for every Polish family. As we wish each other all the best, let us believe, please, that these are not just wishes, that it really can and will get better. Let us all strive for this together. And that is the second important thing – let us be a community. Let us start with the holidays. Let us leave aside politics and strife for these few beautiful days. Let us see what we have in common and think how important it is to be able to be together.

The Christmas tree, the Christmas dinner, the Christmas wafer, the conversations between loved ones, this is the best time to feel a sense of community again. I believe in the future of the Polish people as a great, united nation. I believe in the Polish rebirth.

I wish you a merry Christmas full of love and warmth.

 Prime Minister

Donald Tusk
