Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at the Wrocław University of Science and Technology and the Inauguration of the Academic Year at the University of Wrocław

– The most interesting, important, advanced and expensive technologies are born at the junction of various fields: medicine, mathematics, IT, telecommunications. This is the future of science and also of the economy – said the Head of Government. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki visited the newly established Faculty of Information and Communication Technology at the Wrocław University of Science and Technology. On the campus, he laid flowers under a plaque dedicated to Kornel Morawiecki. During his visit to Lower Silesia, the Prime Minister also took part in the Inauguration of the Academic Year.

Wrocław University of Science and Technology – a place of the extraordinary concentration of modern technology

During his visit to Lower Silesia, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki stopped by the newly established Faculty of Information and Communication Technology at the Wrocław University of Science and Technology. This unit conducts research in IT fields applied in Industry 4.0. Educating students in this area is a response to the current socio-economic needs. Its activity is oriented towards, among other things, the commercialisation of research results and maintaining active cooperation with the economy.

In recent years, the University has become one of the leaders in cooperation with major Polish and foreign companies.

- The Wrocław University of Science and Technology has many achievements in cooperation with such giants and largest companies like Google, Nokia or KGHM – stressed Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

University honoured by the European Commission 

Currently, the University is considered one of the leading scientific centres in the country. It educates 21,000 students in 60 fields of study at 13 faculties and three branches. Its graduates are among the most sought-after on the labour market. A considerable number of students find employment while still studying, and 70 per cent of them not later than three months after receiving their diploma. 

The Wrocław University of Science and Technology systematically establishes new cooperation with domestic and foreign companies and scientific centres. It is a member of such organisations as the European University Association or the European Society for Engineering Education. The University is also in the elite group of institutions honoured by the European Commission with the "HR Excellence in Research" award. 

Head of Government commemorated Kornel Morawiecki

During his visit to the Wrocław University of Science and Technology, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki also laid flowers under a plaque dedicated to Kornel Morawiecki. The founder of "Fighting Solidarity" worked at the University between 1973 and 2009. Initially, at the Institute of Mathematics and later at the Institute of Mathematics and Information Technology as an assistant professor and senior lecturer.

Inauguration of the Academic Year in Wrocław

On 30 September, the Rector of the University of Wrocław inaugurated the 2021/2022 academic year. The celebrations were attended by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and 11 rectors from Wrocław's public universities, students and the Mayor of Wrocław.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki is a graduate of the University of Wrocław. In his speech, he stressed that the Alma Mater is a "nurturing mother" that inspires and educates future elites and generations. Furthermore, the Head of Government emphasised that everyone should learn to transform knowledge for the common good while applying individual values.

Today, we can clearly see that we need to look for added value. It gives us a better perspective to catch up to or outstrip the best. We are closer to this goal today than we were not so long ago – Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki summed up his speech at the inauguration. – To the seekers of truth, I would like to wish courage, wisdom and patriotism for the benefit of us and future generations of the Republic of Poland – he added.
