Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki: For municipalities and districts of Poland, the most important thing is how their residents live

04.06.2023

We care about the development of local Poland. We want to connect all the regions of our country by making investments. By doing so, we create new jobs, build roads, pedestrian crossings and children's playgrounds. We also provide modern equipment for hospitals and modernise schools. Through the Government Fund for Local Investments, approximately PLN 13.2 billion has been allocated to the budgets of municipalities, districts and cities throughout Poland for investments close to the people. This was made possible, among other things, by the funds the government has recovered from tax fraud.

We help municipalities and districts in order to equalise the standard of living in Poland

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki visited a newly created playground for children and a skatepark for young people in Dobroszyce – places of recreation and leisure for whole families. The modern facility was subsidised by the Government Fund for Local Investments.

As the Prime Minister stressed, the investment funding was made possible by good government policies and the tightening of the tax system. "It is from this kind of management of public finances that investments such as this one have come about," the head of government pointed out. "May it be used for the amusement and entertainment of our youngest citizens," he added.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki also recalled that the government is subsidising many investments implemented across the country. "The most important thing for municipalities of Poland, districts of Poland, cities, towns and villages is how their residents live," he stressed. "What matters is whether there is work, whether investments are attracted, whether jobs, crèches and nurseries are created," he explained.

Government supports the development of local Poland

We want to equalise development opportunities for all residents of Poland. That is why we try to help municipalities and districts so that they can implement the investments that local communities need.

  • Government Fund for Local Investments – funding for the reconstruction of local roads, retrofitting of hospitals, construction of crèches or libraries.
    • As part of the programme, around PLN 13.2 billion has been allocated to the budgets of municipalities, districts and cities across Poland for investments close to the people.
  • Government Strategic Investment Programme – is a non-refundable subsidies for public investments made by municipalities, districts, cities and voivodeships throughout Poland.
    • There have been five editions of the programme so far, for which we have allocated a total of PLN 63.4 billion.
    • The maximum subsidy is up to 98 per cent.
    • Through the programme, we are supporting the sustainable development of Poland. This includes new roads, sports facilities, refurbished schools, renovated parks, as well as water and sewage investments.
  • Support for former state-owned farm (PGR) municipalities – as part of the Government Strategic Investment Programme we also support former state-owned farm municipalities and districts with more than PLN 4 billion.
  • Government Road Development Fund – means safe, modern roads and road infrastructure.
    • Since 2019, we have completed investment projects of more than 18,000 km for a total of almost PLN 13 billion. In 2023, this amount will reach PLN 15.3 billion.
    • Local governments received funds that made it possible to carry out more than 12,000 tasks related to municipal and district roads.
  • Investment map – we have launched an interactive investment map where everyone can check what investments have been financed with public funds in their municipality - mapainwestycji.gov.pl.

“Dobrolandia” playground

A modern playground for children and a skatepark for young people was created in Dobroszyce – places of recreation and leisure for whole families. The opening took place on 1 June 2023, on Children's Day.

The playground was built at the Cultural Centre in Dobroszyce and the skatepark at the Primary School in Dobroszyce. For the realisation of the playground and skatepark, the municipality obtained PLN 850,000 from the Government Fund for Local Investments. The value of the entire investment amounted to PLN 2.2 million.
