We fight for the wages of Polish people

For the first time in the history of our country, more than 17 million Poles are professionally active. More than 3.5 million of them earn the minimum wage, which the government has been gradually increasing for eight years. Compared to 2015, from 1 July 2024, the minimum wage will have increased by PLN 2,550, or as much as 146 per cent.

- In 2015, we started from the level of PLN 1,750 gross. Today, we have decided that the minimum wage will be PLN 4,240 gross in just a few months – noted Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. – Thus, the net wage, thanks to our gigantic tax cut from 18 per cent to 12 per cent and a tax-free amount of up to PLN 30,000 - will essentially be twice as high as it was in the times of our predecessors. This is a solidarity revolution -  stressed the head of the government.

Higher minimum wage in 2024

The minimum wage will increase in two stages next year. From 1 January, the lowest salary will be PLN 4,242, and from 1 July - PLN 4,300. In 2024, the minimum hourly rate for certain civil law contracts will also increase - from 1 January it will be PLN 27.70 and from 1 July - PLN 28.10.

  • The minimum wage from 1 January 2024, i.e. PLN 4,242, means an increase by PLN 752 compared to the amount in force from 1 January 2023 (PLN 3,490), i.e. by 21.5 per cent.
  • The increase in the minimum wage from 1 July 2024 to PLN 4,300 will mean an increase by PLN 700 compared to the amount in force from 1 July 2023 (PLN 3,600), i.e. by 19.4 per cent. Thus, the average minimum wage will be PLN 4,271 in 2024.

Seniority pensions - the fulfilment of the legacy of ”Solidarity’’

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki also announced that the government is planning to introduce a seniority pension programme, which will be available to women who have completed 38 years of service and men who have completed 43 years of service.

- This is a great, groundbreaking change - especially for all those who have worked the hardest and longest – pointed out the head of the government. - I bow to all the ladies and gentlemen who have worked so many years and, for health or physical reasons, no longer want to or are able to work – added Prime Moinister.

As Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki explained, the seniority pension programme will also mean the fulfilment of the legacy of ”Solidarity”.
