Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki in Wałbrzych: we want to sow the seeds of future jobs and development

28.10.2022

In Lower Silesia, the "European" has opened: it is a new bypass of Wałbrzych. The ceremonial opening was made by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki together with the Marshal of the Sejm Elżbieta Witek and the Minister of Infrastructure Andrzej Adamczyk. The Wałbrzych bypass was an investment that had long been awaited by the residents of the city and the surrounding area and also by drivers. Putting such an important road into operation will improve the flow of local traffic and relieve towns and cities of transit traffic. The newly opened bypass also makes the area more attractive to investors.

Development starts with infrastructure

Safe and fast transport with respect for the environment and local residents is the right direction for developing road infrastructure in our country. Among other things, we have introduced very specific programmes for bypasses or local roads. We know that good and safe roads are the first step towards the prosperity of Polish cities and municipalities.

"This road here is indeed a symbol of our action, operability and effectiveness. This is important because its history is indeed very long, and it opens up completely new development perspectives for Wałbrzych, Szczawno, and the vicinity of this wonderful region” emphasised Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

It is worth noting that the new bypass will not only serve residents and transit, but also increase Wałbrzych’s ecomic potential. The potential that is represented by initiatives including the Wałbrzych Special Economic Zone Investment Park – an area ranked among the most valuable locations for investment. It is home to an automotive industry based on modern, environmentally friendly technologies.

We care about regions once forgotten

”The history of Wałbrzych is special. It is a symbol of a heavy and difficult transformation. To many people in Poland, it is a symbol of collapse and problems caused by the "Balcerowicz plan" in the 1990s”, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki mentioned.

For many years, the process of development in free, post-communist Poland was characterised by chaos and inequality. Over the last few years, however, we have made sure that every corner of Poland can receive the opportunity to develop. Investments and co-financing, listening to the voice of residents and local government officials – these are the fundamental principles of the current government.

– We will do everything, in cooperation with local government and local government officials, to restore the former splendour of each area - in this case, Wałbrzych – but also to provide the chance for new jobs, better and better jobs”, emphasised the Head of the Government.

The largest investment in the post-war history of the city

The four-lane Wałbrzych Bypass, which is about 5.9 km long and is called ”The European” by local residents, is an investment of regional importance, the largest in the post-war history of the city. The road was put into operation along with all the necessary infrastructure around it: access roads, lighting, acoustic screens and drainage systems. On the route there are two junctions, a footbridge and an underpass for pedestrians. Such a comprehensive investment puts road safety in first place – the most important goal of all road investments that we are implementing throughout Poland.
