On Monday, the head of the Polish government took part in a meeting with the Governor General of Australia. Among other things, the politicians discussed bilateral cooperation between our countries. The main topics included Russia's aggression against Ukraine and the associated energy security. Governor David Hurley's visit to Poland is an important part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries
Bilateral cooperation and Russia's aggression in Ukraine
One of the main topics of the Prime Minister's talks with the Governor General of Australia was the prospect of developing bilateral cooperation. The leaders also discussed Russia's military aggression in Ukraine and the associated energy security. At the meeting, the situation in the Indo-Pacific region was discussed.
Assistance on many levels
Poland and Australia strongly condemn Russian aggression inside Ukraine. We provide military and humanitarian aid to our neighbor to the east. Australia supports Ukraine and, like Poland, wants it to regain its freedom and sovereignty.
Poland supported Australia during the difficult period of fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. We donated one million vaccines to our partners to save the lives of their residents.
Half a century since the establishment of diplomatic relations
Governor David Hurley's visit to Poland is an important part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries. The celebration is also part of the recent intensification of Polish-Australian relations.
Despite the distance separating our countries, we have maintained good bilateral relations for years. Since 1972, our countries have worked together to build and strengthen strong relations.
