Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki: Together with the entire free world, we must help Ukraine survive

Poland is one of the leaders of support for embattled Ukraine. We are donating military equipment and engaging in humanitarian and logistical assistance. Our determined actions place us at the forefront of countries supporting Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki discussed the challenges of assisting our eastern neighbour with European Union Commissioner for Crisis Management Janez Lenarčić. Together they visited the repository of the Governmental Strategic Reserves Agency (RARS) in Komorowo near Ostrów Mazowiecka.
Solidarity aid for Ukraine
If Ukraine is to be able to fight Russia effectively, such measures as humanitarian corridors are important. Since the beginning of the war, Poland, together with the European Commission and Ukraine, has been making every effort to ensure that aid arrives without hindrance. This is humanitarian, economic and military support. The transport hub near Rzeszów is key to providing aid to Ukraine. The European Union has so far sent 80,000 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Ukraine, 80 per cent of which has passed through Poland. We are helping with the entire logistical process.
"Only together, in solidarity, can we help Ukraine survive this terrible time," said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. "Through resources from the European Union, from the United States and from across the free world, we must help Ukraine to survive," he explained.
Military support for the Ukrainian army
The pressure and diplomatic efforts on the part of Poland to provide Ukraine with Western military equipment, including tanks, are proving effective. "We are building a coalition of countries so that modern tanks will allow us to end the war as soon as possible," – the head of the Polish government pointed out. " Tanks are not for riding in parades, tanks are for supporting those fighting to defend freedom and sovereignty," he added.
As the Prime Minister stressed, the decision to send Abrams and Leopard tanks is of crucial importance. "It can have not only a symbolic and psychological value but also immense strategic and military value," the head of government said.
Activities of RARS for Ukraine
The Governmental Strategic Reserves Agency carries out some of the tasks related to material aid for the Ukrainian population and the fighting people. This includes demand management, purchasing the most urgent items and organising logistics. Goods and resources that are needed to avert a humanitarian catastrophe are transferred to Ukraine from both Poland and other countries.
