Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki: we have unleashed the potential of Polish families
20.05.2023
Government policy focuses on supporting families. Since 2015, we have been realising this objective through a number of social programmes - Toddler+, Family Welfare Capital or Good Start. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki visited the town of Działoszyce in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, where a pre-school and a nursery have been established thanks to the Toddler+ and Government Local Investment Fund programmes. The Prime Minister also pointed out to the government's commitment - from 1 January 2024, we will increase the amount of support for Polish families from PLN 500 to PLN 800. This is a financial injection that will support household budgets and enable children, among other things, to participate in additional sports or cultural activities.
Helping parents combine work and family life
- We do not want to limit people’s thinking to the dilemma of whether to be young and poor or old and lonely. We want everyone who wants to have children to be able to have them and, at the same time, to be able to think about the next decades of their lives with peace of mind," said the Prime Minister.
As he stressed, the government programmes are meant to support families and respond to the challenges of their lives. They are supposed to help them reconcile work and private life.
New childcare places for the youngest - Toddler+ Programme
- Children are the most precious treasure of every family, its greatest value. For the state, they are the nation's hope for the future and that is why our 'Toddler plus' programme is one of the most important programmes of our government," said Prime Minister.
This programme is another step in building a truly family-friendly policy of the state - the state that supports families also in financial terms. It aims to develop childcare institutions for children aged up to 3 - nurseries, children's clubs and day carers.
- In 2015, there were 84,000 places in nurseries in Poland; by 2023, there are 230,000. This is an increase of more than 270 per cent. Another edition of Maluch+ for a further 87,000 places was recently awarded.
New to the Toddler+ programme is a subsidy for each newly created childcare place for children aged up to 3 years.
The municipality of Działoszyce availed of the programme and built a new pre-school and a nursery. The implementation of this investment is all about supporting families and creating comfortable childcare conditions.
'800 plus' programme helps children grow
- A great revolution of dignity has taken place in Poland. For what is freedom if there is nothing to put in a pot, if you have to go to work for 5 zloty an hour because you cannot afford to feed your family," said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. As he stressed, today those times are gone.
Thanks to the "500 plus" programme as well as the "800 plus", Polish children can develop their interests. Many of them go to extra sports classes and develop their musical or language talents. It also gives them a chance to go on holidays with their family or to summer camps with their peers.
