Prime Minister: “May no pandemic ever again disturb the normal functioning of schools”

01.09.2021

1 September is a special day for all students, parents and teachers. After the summer holidays and months of distance learning due to COVID-19 pandemic, children and young people are returning to their school desks. To ensure safe classroom learning for all, schools received such supplies as masks, gloves and thermometers. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki spent the first day of September in Branica Radzyńska in the Lublin Voivodeship. Together with students and teachers of a primary school, he ceremonially opened the new school year. For the children and young people of Branica Radzyńska, the new school year also means a completely new building where they will be gaining knowledge in the coming months and years. To help finance the new school, the government provided nearly PLN 1.8 million.

“I am happy that we are coming back to the regular, friendly school life. May no pandemic ever again disturb the normal functioning of schools,” said Prime Minister Morawiecki. The Head of the Government added: “Schools are meant to teach various subjects: Polish, maths, science, but they are also meant to teach responsibility. They are meant to teach the meaning of friendship, community and patriotism. Schools filled with such content will be a great support for Poles; a discovery of what is beautiful, noble, important.”

The new school building in Branica Radzyńska – the Government supports investment projects that are close to local residents

The history of the primary school in Branica Radzyńska dates back to the 1938/1939 school year. Classes took place in an old palace. After some time, the building was condemned due to poor condition. The students moved to a replacement building, but it did not solve the problem.
The Government led by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki helps realise investment projects that are close to local residents. We also support small schools, as they ensure easy access to knowledge for students living in small towns and villages. The construction of a new school for the children and young people of Branica Radzyńska in the Lublin Voivodeship is that kind of investment project. To help finance the new school, the government provided nearly PLN 1.8 million.
Construction began in 2019. Thanks to its completion, the students and teachers were able to start the 2021/2022 school year in a completely new building. Apart from classrooms, the building includes a gymnasium, a cafeteria, a library and cloakrooms – everything needed for studying!

Safety first – thermometers, masks and gloves for schools

We know that distance learning has a negative impact on the psychological and physical condition of students. The Ministry of Education and Science, together with the Ministry of Health, the Chief Sanitary Inspectorate and the Government Agency for Strategic Reserves, has undertaken a number of actions which will significantly contribute to COVID-19 prevention and enable safe learning in schools and institutions during the pandemic.
Schools and kindergartens have received preventive equipment. This includes disinfection stations with temperature measurement function to be placed in front of building entrances. The Government Agency for Strategic Reserves was responsible for purchasing and distributing the equipment. All schools and kindergartens have received personal protective equipment – gloves, masks, disinfectants and thermometers.

Polish, maths and COVID-19 vaccination – get vaccinated together with your child at school!

To simplify access to vaccinations even further, at the beginning of the new school year, pharmacies, shopping centres and mass events will be joined by schools throughout the country. Keep in mind that even the best preventive equipment at schools and adherence to all established rules may not be enough to protect your child from infection. For this reason, head teachers will be organising vaccinations at their schools.
The Ministry of Education and Science has prepared an informational package concerning organisation of the vaccination process. It specifies the duties and responsibilities of head teachers. These include:
•    organisation of lessons for students to be held by the class teacher,
•    organisation of informational and educational meetings with parents,
•    collection of declarations of child participation in the vaccination process from parents,
•    cooperation with the vaccination point,
•    organisation of space for vaccinations.
