As part of the Government Fund for Local Investments and the Polish Deal, we propose investment project development across Poland, announced PM Morawiecki during visit to Miedziana Góra

19.07.2021

The construction of a new water pipeline and sewage system in the Miedziana Góra commune is just one of many investment projects made possible by funding provided under the Government Fund for Local Investments. During his visit to the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, Prime Minister Morawiecki also noted that similar projects will be implemented across Poland as part of the Polish Deal programme. The Prime Minister also visited the construction site of Kraków’s northern ring road, which will significantly facilitate communication for the city's residents. “We will have a new, large water retention project nearby. By combining infrastructural elements in this way, we can prevent flooding on the one hand, and make communication easier for the local residents and entrepreneurs on the other”, PM Morawiecki emphasized.

Constructing a new water pipeline and sewer system thanks to GFLI funding

The Government Fund for Local Investments provides additional funding for the implementation of investment projects directly serving the needs of the people. Construction of nurseries and kindergartens, as well as renovating roads, are just some examples of actions that local governments can take thanks to GLFI. Located in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, the Miedziana Góra commune has decided to allocate its GLFI funding to a new water pipeline and sewage system project. “Exclusion takes various forms. One of them may be limited access to water and sewage systems, making life difficult for the residents”, said PM Morawiecki. The investment project is crucial to Miedziana Góra’s residents. Thanks to the GFLI funding, they will finally gain access to a sewage system that their area has never had before. The area’s old water supply network will be replaced as well, resulting in improved water quality. “Thanks to such investment projects as the one in Miedziana Góra, more than 1,000 residents will have access to a water and sewage system. This is the kind of solutions that we greatly emphasize”, Mr Morawiecki remarked.

Modernising water and sewage systems as part of the Polish Deal

The Polish Deal is not only about large projects; it also includes a plethora of local initiatives to improve the quality of life for the residents of Poland’s many towns and villages. “We have developed a water and sewage system plan for the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship. Such investment projects are costly. Local governments often cannot afford to implement them alone. This is why we propose to implement them in numerous locations across Poland with funding provided under the Government Fund for Local Investments, as well as the Polish Deal programme”, announced the Prime Minister.

Kraków's northern ring road to bring significant traffic improvements for residents

“The planned route for Kraków’s northern ring road was designated back in the 1970s. The residents of Kraków have been looking forward to its completion for decades”, said PM Morawiecki during his visit to the Małopolskie Voivodeship.

During his visit to the vicinity of the new road’s construction site, PM Morawiecki emphasized that the project will not only connect Kraków’s ring road to the S7 road leading north towards Warsaw, but it will also relieve the transit traffic that Kraków’s residents have had to contend with for so long.

“Another reason we are here today is that the road will be situated above a dry retention reservoir, which is being constructed just to be on the safe side. By combining infrastructural elements subject to environmental permits in this way, we can prevent flooding on the one hand, and make communication easier for the local residents and entrepreneurs on the other”, Mr Morawiecki explained.

Totalling approximately 12.5 km, Kraków’s northern ring road will be designated the S52 expressway. The implementation of the investment project means improved safety and quality of life for the local residents. The new road will help decongest Krakow's 3rd ring road from both external and internal traffic, ultimately improving the capacity of the entire Kraków road system.
