Western Pomerania supports flood victims
The Prime Minister thanked local government officials and authorities from the Western Pomeranian Voivodeship for their assistance for the flooded areas in southern Poland.
“I want to start by thanking you for your solidarity. [...] As I listened to the reports from the fire service and the military about your help and support, I could not stop thinking about people who really appreciated the support and have been looking forward to seeing you,”
said Donald Tusk.
Soldiers from the Western Pomeranian Voivodeship and surrounding areas are helping people in the most affected places, including Stronie Śląskie, Lądek-Zdrój and Brzeg.
“The situation remains critical there. We would all very much like to save Brzeg from flooding, and your presence there is very reassuring for the residents,”
the Prime Minister said during the meeting.
The government, local authorities, services, NGOs, companies and citizens are doing their best to support citizens affected by the floods. The Prime Minister stressed the importance of this support.
He added that one of the first needs of the flood victims is to make sure that the buildings are dry, which means that dehumidifiers are needed. He also asked for support in terms of assessing the state of the buildings.
“Seven inspectors are already ready to come. [...] We are collecting applications and will be sending building inspectors as soon as we can,”
said Adam Rudawski, voivode of Western Pomerania.
He also pledged his help in getting the necessary equipment to the areas affected by the floods.
