Silesia is the heart of Polish industry. It was in Katowice that the Ministry of Industry, headed by Marzena Czarnecka, began its operations on 1 March. Despite its location, the resort will not limit itself to operating only in the region. It will deal not only with mining and metallurgy, but also m.in with oil, gas and nuclear policy.
New ministry in Katowice
- The Ministry of Industry begins its operations. We are fulfilling the commitments we made on 15 October," said Minister Marzena Czarnecka during a press conference.
On Friday, 1 March, the Ministry of Industry, which has its headquarters in Katowice, officially launched its operations. There is no coincidence here – Silesia is the heart of Polish industry.
"The main investment is people, and there are a lot of people employed in industry in this region. I have a goal in my heart to make their lives better and better, to have better and better memories of Upper Silesia – said Marzena Czarnecka.
Appreciation of the region and industry
The Ministry of Industry was established on the basis of some organizational units of the Ministry of State Assets. As Minister Borys Budka emphasized, the establishment of the Ministry of Industry in Silesia is an appreciation of the region, which for decades has been a key factor in Poland's development.
"We will show the region not only from the coal side. Above all, we want to show that there is a great potential of creative industries, energy transition and the potential of people who can work hard and find themselves in various industries. This is just the first step," explained Minister of State Assets Borys Budka.
Without a strong industry, there is no strong economy – this was also pointed out by the Minister of Finance, Andrzej Domański. And thanks to a well-functioning and effective industry, the rate of economic growth will be higher.
"We want this rate of economic growth to increase in the coming years, and we know that for this to happen, we need wise, well-thought-out and sensible decisions concerning the Polish industry," said the Minister of Finance.
Not just local affairs
The Ministry of Industry will not limit itself only to topics related to the Polish mining and metallurgical industry.
"The subject of our activity will be not only mining and metallurgy, but also oil and gas management and, of course, the nuclear policy of the Polish state," said Marzena Czarnecka.
Importantly, the Ministry of Industry will not deal only with local issues. The Ministry's activities are aimed at the whole of Poland.
"It is not only the case that we manage Upper Silesia and the Silesian-Zagłębie Metropolis, but also the whole country. This is the heart of the industry, but it will also reflect the activity throughout Poland," added the Minister of Industry.
