The Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki: Poland as a special economic zone is turning into a reality today

07.07.2022

Ksawerów is going to become a home to a large heating system manufacturing plant. The planned investment value is approximately PLN 1.5 billion. This will open up many job opportunities in the region. The execution of this strategic investment by Daikin in Poland was announced during the meeting in the Łódź Special Economic Zone. This is yet another example of strong cooperation with foreign investors. As the Head of the Polish government emphasised, this demonstrates the investment attractiveness and security of our country as well as how favourable the investment conditions are in Poland

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and the president of DAIKIN in the Łódź Special Economic Zone

Daikin Industries Ltd. - the Japanese international corporation - is opening its manufacturing plant near the city of Łódź. This is going to be one of the three biggest and the most modern plants in the world. The manufactured products will include, heat pumps and air purifiers based on the state-of-the-art and sustainable solutions. This is by far the largest foreign company investment in Poland of the recent years and, at the same time, the biggest one in the history of the Łódź Special Economic Zone.

Quality workplace

The unemployment in Poland is at a historically low level. At the end of June, the unemployment rate was at 4.9%. The last time we had unemployment rate this low was 32 years ago. Our success in this respect raises new questions among investors. How do we attract new, highly qualified workers? At the same time, Poland is fighting for high-quality jobs.

This is precisely why among the issues discussed with the CEO of Daikin, there was also a matter of vocational and technical education. The Prime Minister also pointed out that the institutions of higher education should open new programmes focused on highly advanced technologies.

Business suport

The enterprises learn from one another. – Other companies are bound to emerge around such a company as DAIKIN: Polish companies that will learn about highly advanced technologies: sustainable, heat pumps, which are becoming increasingly popular in Poland – emphasized the Head of the Polish government.

This would not be possible without the correct initiatives taken by the government. We introduced the Business Constitution and battled VAT fraud organized crime groups with a tremendous success. Fair business conditions are the base for rapid economic growth. Also, the new EU financial perspective covers the measures aimed at attracting investors.

– Just as during the pandemic we did not leave entrepreneurs on their own - today, in those hard times of fighting the inflation, we will not leave entrepreneurs and citizens either – emphasized the Prime Minister. – We are making every effort to relieve the citizens, entrepreneurs, employees in this difficult time we have to manage today.
