Polish-American alliance

On 21 February, a meeting was held between the Polish and the American delegations led by the Presidents of Poland and the USA. It was also attended by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. Among other things, the delegations discussed ensuring security for our region. Guaranteeing it is possible through providing military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine. One of the topics raised was the Polish-American alliance.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki also met for a one-to-one conversation with the US President. Issues raised included those relating to economic topics, such as energy security and the development of nuclear power in Poland.

The security of Ukraine is the security of Europe

In Kubicki Arcades, the US President addressed the Polish people directly. He thanked us for our generosity and for opening our hearts and homes to those fleeing the war in Ukraine. At the same time, he emphasised what Poland has been saying for a long time - ensuring security in our region requires further support for our eastern neighbour. Only our solidarity, the solidarity of Europe and NATO with Ukraine will enable it to win. And this is the only way to restore peace and security in this part of the world.

NATO Bucharest Nine Summit

President Biden attended the extraordinary summit of NATO's Bucharest Nine on 22 February. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, the presidents of Bulgaria, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia and Hungary and the head of the Czech government also attended. The countries of NATO's eastern flank condemned Russian aggression against Ukraine and spoke in favour of strengthening the Alliance's presence in our region. The US president also emphasised mutual support in the event of any threat.
