The strengthening of bilateral cooperation in the field of agriculture was the subject matter of today’s meeting of Mr. Robert Telus, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, with Mr. Yacov Livne, Ambassador of Israel to Poland. The Minister was accompanied by Undersecretary of State Krzysztof Ciecióra.

Yesterday Mr. Phung Duc Tien, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam, with the delegation accompanying him, started his visit to Poland. The visit takes place in relation to the second meeting of the Polish-Vietnamese Working Group on Cooperation in the Field of Agriculture hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Secretary of State Lech Kołakowski co-chairs the Group on behalf of Poland.

“We will continue what we have promised and what we have begun to implement,” Mr. Robert Telus, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, stressed in response to famers’ concerns about the suspension by the European Commission of the decision to provide further assistance to the frontline states.

The Agriculture Ministers of Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia and Hungary call again on the European Commission to propose appropriate, legally binding mechanisms to address the increased inflow of agri-food products from Ukraine. Today, on Poland’s initiative, a joint letter of the Ministers was submitted to Mr. Valdis Dombrovskis, Vice-President of the European Commission and EU Commissioner for Trade, and Mr. Janusz Wojciechowski, EU Commissioner for Agriculture.

Today, the Agriculture Ministers of five frontline states: Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia and Hungary, held an online meeting. This was the first meeting of this group of countries after the entry into force of the Commission Implementing Regulation introducing special measures concerning Ukrainian agricultural products.

Today, Mr. Robert Telus, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, met online with Mr. Mykola Solskiy, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine. Minister Robert Telus was accompanied, among others, by Mr. Rafał Romanowski, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. Andrzej Chodkowski, Main Inspector of Plant Health and Seed Inspection, Mr. Paweł Niemczuk, Chief Veterinary Officer, and Mr. Bartosz Zbaraszczuk, Secretary of State and Head of the National Revenue Administration. The meeting was devoted to the issue of the transit of cereals from Ukraine through Poland’s territory.

At the seat of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. Robert Telus, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, and Mr. Mark Brzezinski, US Ambassador to Poland, talked about the most important issues within the scope of bilateral cooperation in the agri-food sector.

The meeting of the Agriculture and Fisheries (AGRIFISH) Council in Luxembourg primarily addressed the current situation on the agricultural markets in the EU, the proposal for a Regulation on the certification of carbon removals and the national CAP strategic plans for 2023-2027. The Polish delegation was headed by Mr. Robert Telus, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Today, Secretary of State Rafał Romanowski met with Malawi's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nancy Tembo, who is in Poland for political consultations. The interlocutors confirmed their mutual interest in developing bilateral cooperation in agriculture.

Today, Secretary of State Ryszard Bartosik met with Mr. Khalid Hussain Memon, the Ambassador of Pakistan to Poland, to address the development of relations in the agri-food sector.
