A meeting of the EU Agriculture and Fisheries Council (AGRIFISH) was held in Brussels on 21 March 2022. Mr. Henryk Kowalczyk, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, participated in it. Its most important topics included the CAP Strategic Plans, the situation on the agricultural markets in relation to the armed conflict in Ukraine and Poland’s motion concerning the proposal for a Regulation on the sustainable use of plant protection products.

On Thursday (17 March 2022), Mr. Henryk Kowalczyk, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, held talks with Mrs. Yulia Svyrydenko, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine. Mr. Rafał Romanowski, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, who is responsible for coordinating the issues of food aid to Ukraine, Mr. Taras Kachka and Mr. Oleksandr Hryban, Deputy Ministers of Economy of Ukraine, also participated in the meeting.

The remote talks between Mr. Henryk Kowalczyk, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, and Mr. Le Minh Hoan, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, concerned the cooperation between Poland and Vietnam in the field of agriculture. Mr. Lech Kołakowski, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, also participated in the Thursday meeting which was initiated by Poland.

Every day, nearly 60 veterinarians, both from veterinary inspectorate and private practitioners, conduct animal health checks, check identification and perform rabies vaccinations on the Polish-Ukrainian border. These activities are carried out under special procedures and regulations applicable at the external EU border.

Today, Mr. Henryk Kowalczyk, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, held talks with Mr. Roman Leshchenko, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine. Mr. Rafał Romanowski, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, also participated in the meeting.

On 4 March 2022, Undersecretary of State Krzysztof Ciecióra participated in the meeting of the Ministers of Agriculture of the Visegrad Group countries (Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary) and Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania and Slovenia (GV4+4), with the participation of the EU Commissioner for Agriculture, Janusz Wojciechowski. The talks took place in Visegrád, where more than 30 years ago, the idea of cooperation between the countries of our region was born.

Mr. Henryk Kowalczyk, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, participated in a meeting of the EU Agriculture and Fisheries Council in Brussels.

Undersecretary of State Krzysztof Ciecióra attended the informal Council of EU Agriculture Ministers in Strasbourg, devoted to the topic of Consolidating climate-friendly agricultural and forestry models: low carbon agriculture.

“Sustainable Land Use: Food Security Starts with the Soil” was the key theme of this year’s Berlin Agriculture Ministers' Conference, which was held today as a remote meeting. Poland was represented there by the Secretary of State Anna Gembicka.

On 26 January 2022, Mr. Krzysztof Ciecióra, Undersecretary of State, met with a delegation of the Republic of Serbia, specifically representing the Parliamentary Group for Friendship with Poland of the Skupshtina Assembly, headed by Mr. Veroljub Arsić. The meeting was attended by experts of the MARD, the Agency for Restructuring and Modernisation of Agriculture and the General Veterinary Inspectorate.
