27.09.2023
The National Medical Institute of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration (PIM MSWiA) has received funding in the amount of PLN 28,393,573.43 as part of the Medical Research Agency's (ABM) initiative to create an infrastructural, human resources, and systemic base enabling the eventual establishment of the Network of Regional Centers for Digital Medicine.
Professor Waldemar Wierzba, MD, PhD, the Director of the PIM MSWiA, noted that the Institute is extremely honored to have been awarded the grant by the Medical Research Agency. He also stressed that the Institute is in an excellent position to carry out this project, especially considering the previous work on introducing innovative solutions.
The creation of Regional Centers for Digital Medicine (RCMC) - including the Regional Center for Digital Medicine at the PIM MSWiA - will serve multiple purposes, including data analysis, support for clinical research and hospital care in the area of digital solutions and retrospective analysis, as well as contributing to improving the effectiveness of patient treatment and their access to innovative therapies and to the development of solutions to facilitate the work of physicians. With the allocated funds, 18 units from across Poland will create an infrastructure that allows access to a substantial amount of reliable data while maintaining control over the sources that generate it.
I am proud that we can work together today to create a modern infrastructure for ensuring the security and proper analysis of data in the healthcare system. After all, a well-functioning health information space is a key step towards ensuring that Poland is at the forefront of innovative projects properly managing life-saving data. I believe that the funds donated by the Medical Research Agency for the establishment of the Regional Centers for Digital Medicine will not only increase the number and quality of scientific research conducted in Poland but, most importantly, will ensure better and more personalized medical care for each patient – has concluded the President of the Medical Research Agency, Radosław Sierpiński, MD, PhD, Assoc. Professor.
