President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda sends a message encouraging to take part in the social campaign "Light up the Light of Freedom" on the 40th anniversary of the imposition of martial law
The 40th anniversary of the introduction of Martial Law is approaching. The communist regime then declared war on the Poles. Thousands of "Solidarity" activists were imprisoned, those fighting for freedom were fired from work and universities, brutally beaten to suppress protests. Some people had their lives taken.
We remember about all the victims and persecuted during Martial Law. Let's remember about the Heroes! It is thanks to their courage and strength that communism finally collapsed and Poland regained its freedom. We owe them that we live today in our own sovereign, democratic state.
As a sign of this remembrance, on December 13, let us light the Light of Freedom in the windows of our homes. Let its flame remind you of the victims. Let it remind you of the victorious fight against enslavement and regaining a free Poland.

On Monday, December 13 at 19:30, light a symbolic candle in the window in memory of the Victims of Martial Law.
