Diplomatic relations between Poland and Eswatini were established on 11 May 1990
Political cooperation
Diplomatic relations between Poland and Eswatini (formerly Swaziland) were established on 11 May 1990. The agreement on establishing relations between both countries was signed by the permanent representatives of the Republic of Poland and the Kingdom of Swaziland to the UN. Ambassador Mpumeldo J.N. Hlophe, based in Copenhagen, submitted letters of credence on 25 September 1991. The next ambassador of Swaziland, David Dlamini, submitted credentials on 6 January 1998. Polish interests in Mbabane are represented by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria. No significant political contacts have been recorded so far.
Economical cooperation
The framework of cooperation between Poland and Eswatini (formerly Swaziland) is defined in the EPA agreement (Economic Partnership Agreement) signed on 10 June 2016 between the EU and 6 member countries of the South African Development Community (SADC), including Eswatini. The trade turnover of Poland from Eswatini in 2017 amounted to USD 0.8 million.
Scientific cooperation
Polish citizens may study at the Universities in Eswatini. There is also possibility to recognize education obtained in Polish academic institutions. Polish universities offer a number of interesting programs for foreign students on paid studies.
