Celebration of Children's Day in South Africa
01.06.2022
The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria celebrated the Children's Day at the Mary Immaculate Nursery School in Johannesburg on June 1, 2022. The kindergarten is run in an exemplary manner by Polish and South African nuns from the Congregation of the Sisters Servants of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Lyndhurst in Johannesburg.
76 children attend the kindergarten. Polish sisters weave Polish accents into the curriculum of the school. Children watch Polish cartoons, learn Polish songs and games. While having fun, they learn about Polish culture and tradition. The Embassy donated the Polish colouring books, games and puzzles, as well as “non-maps” prepared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the kids. The colourful publications aroused great interest among children and will certainly contribute to further enriching their knowledge about. The publications will be used by the sisters during their classes. The celebration of Children's Day was attended by: Consul of the Republic of Poland, Michał Gierwatowski, Father Radosław Szymoniak and employees of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria.
Children's Day was also celebrated by pupils from the Polish Saturday School in Cape Town.
This year's attraction was the ceramics classes organized by the school and Mrs. Agata Pajor and financed by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria. These activities were very popular among children.
