04.05.2021
On the intention of St. Joseph Worker, the patron of the Polish Parish in Johannesburg, as well as on the occasion of the Polish Flag Day, the Day of the Polish Diaspora and Poles Abroad, the National Day of the Constitution of 3 May 1791, a solemn mass was held on May 2, 2021 in Johannesburg.
The accumulation of reasons to celebrate attracted a large group of Poles to the event. At the ceremonies, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland was represented by the Deputy Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria, Jarosław Spyra and Consul of the Republic of Poland, Michał Gierwatowski.
In his occasional speech, Consul Gierwatowski emphasized that the importance for all Poles living abroad should be the creation of a community and the transfer of interest and ties with their homeland to young generations. The consul also thanked the Polish community for its contribution over the centuries in the Poland’s struggle for independence. The Day of Polish Community and Poles Abroad, which was established on May 2, 2002, is supposed to be a proof of the recognition of the Polish state for the hard work of the representatives of the motherland scattered all over the world.
We encourage everyone to proudly present their Polishness. In these days, which are very important for the Polish nation, let everyone see and hear us !!!
