Organization of the exhibition "Mom, I don't want war"
28.02.2023
On February 28, 2023, the Embassies of the Republic of Poland and Ukraine in Pretoria and the Alliance Française in Pretoria commemorated the first anniversary of Russia's aggression against Ukraine. As part of the event, the Ukrainian documentary “Roses. Movie – Cabaret” was presented. The film shows the revolution through the eyes of artists - through the eyes of women - which gives it a special perspective. The film captured the beginning of what is happening in Ukraine today - the amazing unity of the Ukrainian people against the Russian attack on Ukraine, Europe, the free world.
The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria presented the exhibition "Mom, I don't want war" - a Polish-Ukrainian archival project presenting historical drawings of Polish children from 1946, which were a record of their experiences during World War II, and contemporary drawings of Ukrainian children related to the ongoing war in Ukraine.
Theo Miltiadous (Alliance Française), Arnaud Roux (Chargé d'affaires of the Embassy of France), Liubov Abravitiva (Ambassador of Ukraine) and Jarosław Spyra (Head of the Political and Economic Department of the Polish Embassy) gave occasional speeches during the event. The speeches referred to the tragic events in Ukraine, the suffering of the Ukrainian nation, and also expressed support and international solidarity with Ukraine fighting for the defence of the country's freedom and territorial integrity.
The event was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps, Polish and Ukrainian diaspora, academic circles, as well as residents of Pretoria.
