The European Film Festival 2024 Lesotho, presenting over 30 European and local films, took place from 13 to 28 November 2024.

The European Union, in partnership with the Alliance Française de Maseru and Mbabane, organised this year the first bi-national European Film Festival in Lesotho and Eswatini. The festival in Eswatini ended on 30 November 2024.

The festival showcased a wide range of European and local films, covering themes such as identity, family, social justice and cultural heritage. It will showcase works by established filmmakers and emerging talents.

The festival took place in various locations across the two countries, including the Alliance Française de Maseru, the National University of Lesotho, Café What? and The Hub. The event included workshops and seminars for emerging filmmakers, providing opportunities to share knowledge and network.

By bringing together different visions and perspectives, the European Film Festival aims to inspire audiences, promote cross-cultural understanding and contribute to the vibrant film landscape of Lesotho and Eswatini.
