"Polish Business Brunch" - promotion of Polish food in Johannesburg

The Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH) in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Poland organized a business meeting "Polish Business Brunch" in Johannesburg. The event was a continuation of promotional activities undertaken during the Africa's Big 7 agri-food fair in Johannesburg, on June 19-21, 2022. The meeting took place in the form of a business brunch, preceded by speeches by the organizers, in a formula enabling the establishment or development of previously established Africa's Big 7 economic contacts (networking).

The event was attended by representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria, the Foreign Office of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH) in Johannesburg, the authorities and state institutions of South Africa, including DTIC (Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperation of South Africa), the Department of Economic Development of Gauteng Province, the Agency Investments in Gauteng and Kwa Zulu Natal Provinces, Special Economic Zones in Kwa Zulu Natal and East Cape provinces, and South African agri-food businesses. Local media representatives were also present.

The introductory word was delivered by the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Kanthak, who described the development of economic relations between Poland and South Africa in recent years, emphasizing the priority importance of agriculture for both countries. The ambassador also referred to current political events, mentioning Russia's invasion on Ukraine and the impact it may have on food security in the world. Then, the agricultural counsellor at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria, Maciej Knowski introduced the participants of the event to the export offer of Polish agriculture.

Then there was a presentation by Katarzyna Muzyk from PAIH, who described Poland as a country open to the development of mutual cooperation and the Polish agri-food sector from the perspective of individual brands of export products.

After the official part of the event, there was a tasting of Polish products, and the participants of the event had the opportunity to establish contacts and exchange experiences.
