The commemoration began with the Holy Mass commemorated by Father Marian Kulig in the Chapel of Our Lady of Mercy in Walkerville. The event was moderated by the President of the Polish Association in Johannesburg, Magdalena Liberda. Head of the Political and Economic Department of the Polish Embassy, Jarosław Spyra, gave a special speech referring to the events that took place 102 years ago, and emphasized the importance of the Battle of Warsaw, one of the most important battles in the history of mankind, which is still underestimated in Western Europe.

After the official part of the ceremony, the Polish Association organized a raffle. The entire proceeds were allocated to the orphanage "Dawn of Hope" founded by Stefan Herok. Our compatriot has been privately looking after a group of South African orphans for over 8 years.

The ceremony made it possible for the participants to learn about Polish history, as well as to integrate the Polish community through a joint event and tasting traditional dishes.
